Defining the Hidden Curriculum for Practical Use
February 20, 2025
Greetings

Three quick items:

1) Hosting a Theatrical Performance - THIS SATURDAY

2) Defining the Hidden Curriculum for Practical Use

3) Conference and Event Schedule

Theater

Joyce and I will be hosting a performance of Notes From the Field: Doing Time in Education by Anna Deavere Smith at Portland Playhouse on Saturday, Feb. 22nd at 7:30 PM.

"Created in the mid-2010s based on hundreds of personal interviews Smith conducted across the country, Notes from the Field is a stunning example of “verbatim” or “documentary” theater, where the actor - in this case Ramona Lisa Alexander - takes on the challenge of performing actual, living characters, using nothing but their own words."

One of the themes is the school-to-prison pipeline, so be warned.

I will give a free copy of one of my books to anyone who comes to me at the show to say that you came because of this newsletter.

Newest Website Page

My latest essay on the website is about the hidden curriculum.

As a major topic in my writing it would be good for it to be a practical tool rather than just a nice idea.
